Protecting the environment is everyone’s business
We are all watching in awe the rapid climatic changes and the extreme weather all over the world. The warnings coming from scientists and environmentalists are more or less predictions of doom. Very soon it will be too late to turn back. And it’s all the human race’s fault...
We have always been environmentally conscious and we strongly believe that every little effort counts. Each and everyone of us has something to contribute to the larger effort of saving this beautiful planet called earth.
So, what do we do about it here in our Garden Center? Well, basically we recycle (re-use). We recycle as many of the plastic pots that we use as possible. Additionally, we also ask you, our clients or not, to bring your empty plastic pots and trays that you are not going to reuse, to us. Please do not throw them away. Not only plastic needs hundreds of years to decompose, the energy needed for the production of new plastic is immense. We will reuse the plastic pots and trays again and again.
Furthermore, we recycle other material as well mostly by reusing them instead of discarding them: Soil, perlite, carton boxes, paper and anything else that is reusable
Our future plans to further promote environmental practices in our garden center include two main steps:
1. Very soon, we will introduce biodegradable carrying bags
2. We will place an aluminium cans disposal station at the garden center where everyone can bring their waste aluminium cans for recycling
3. We are at the planning stage to implement a composting process so that we can produce our own compost from plant material that is left mainly after pruning. We have set a time frame for this project and will keep you updated on how it is developing
If you think there are other thinks we could be doing in our garden center to contribute in the protection of the environment, please contact us and let us know.
Oh, and by the way; take as much information as you like from our website, but please, print as little as possible. Printing means consuming paper = trees...
